Arizona signed the nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law on Friday. Its aim is to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants. The move unleashed immediate protests and reignited the divisive battle over immigration reform nationally. Even before she signed the bill at an afternoon news conference here, Obama strongly criticized it.The Arizona law, he added, threatened “to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.”

The Tea Party is having more female candidate and is coming to appear as a feminist party. Some are aspiring candidates who could never get traction within the tight, local Republican Party networks. One tea party member said, ““I’ve been to 15 Tea Party meetings and never heard a woman called a name just because she’s powerful. I guess you could say the Tea Party is where I truly became a feminist.” I think if this becomes an actual political party they should have people who aren’t feminists just that they can come into view of everything thats going on except on just feminist view.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/18/weekinreview/18zernike.html?scp=2&sq=tea party&st=cse

In the results of the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, the tea party supporters are better educated and wealthier than the general public. They are just as likely to be employed, and more likely to describe their economic situation as very or fairly good. The poll reveals a deep conviction among Tea Party supporters that the country is being run by people who do not share their values, for the benefit of people who are not like them.I think that we shouldn’t just support a party just because their supporters are important people but for they are and what their values are.

Tea Party events exploded over the course of 2009, as increasingly large gatherings protested the federal stimulus bill, government bailouts and proposed health care legislation. It is a diffuse American grass-roots group that taps into antigovernment sentiments.. The Web site TaxDayTeaParty.com listed its sponsors, including FreedomWorks, a group founded by Dick Armey, the former House majority leader. Some Republicans in Washington watched the movement’s rise with enthusiasm; others with anxiety, worried that the protesters could push the party so far to the right.

Just after deciding on a bill insurance companies are already arguing that, at least for now, they do not have to provide one of the benefits that the president calls a centerpiece of the law: coverage for certain children with pre-existing conditions. They say, the law does not require them to write insurance for the child and it does not guarantee the “availability of coverage” for all until 2014.Congressional Democrats were furious when they learned that some insurers disagreed with their interpretation of the law.The new law says that health plans and insurers offering individual or group coverage “may not impose any pre-existing condition exclusion with respect to such plan or coverage” for children under 19, starting in “plan years” that begin on or after Sept. 23, 2010. I predicted that even this would happen people still continue to have their disagreements even though a bill was decided on.

The process was wrenching, but the year-long struggle over health care reform came to an end on Sunday night with a triumph for countless Americans who have been victimized or neglected by their dysfunctional health care system. The bill, which was approved by the Senate in December and by the House on Sunday, represents a national commitment to reform the worst elements of the current system.Mr. Obama took too long to get into the fight, but came on strong in the end and will have to keep pushing back so all Americans understand the benefits of reform. Finally we have something to settle on hopefully all goes well.

President Obama is trying to personalize the health bill. They used a woman as an example. She was a patient: a self-employed cleaning woman who dropped her costly insurance plan and just discovered she has leukemia.Mr. Obama traveled here, to a recreation center in a region that is home to several swing Democrats, to begin a week of closing arguments that will culminate in a series of make-or-break House votes.Supporters and opponents of the legislation began marshaling forces for a final intense week.

President Obama urges action on health care plan. He wants it to be friendly to families and small businesses. “I know it has been a long and hard road to this point, and we are not finished with our journey just yet,” Mr. Obama said. “But we are close. We are very close.” He did not seek to put out any new arguments on the plan because he wants for it to come to an ending. He believes that we should act now and to stop waiting. Now hopefully when they decide on something that a good result will come out of it.

President Obama issued his own health care blueprint of a bill.Mr. Obama’s measure would, for example, eliminate a highly criticized special deal to help Nebraska pay for a proposed medicaid expansion, and would instead provide more help for all states to pay for their new Medicaid enrollees. He used the existing senate bill as a basis for his proposal. He challenged Republicans to come forward with their ideas and laid the groundwork. Hopefully we have come closer to finally finish this issue.
